Waxing Freedom

This is my submission (Karin Edgett) for the July Challenge from a local Art League for art symbolizing “Freedom”.

“It’s called ‘waxing freedom’ and taken as the waxing moon was passing over top of the ‘Freedom Goddess’ statue on the top of the US Capitol. This statue was erected with a lot of faith during some very dark and tenuous times in our country. I always like to think of freedom as the most fundamental goal of us a collective people, and we continue to move in that direction though many a misstep!
