Bielers Soup +
Bielers Broth has been around for more than half a century now as a healing soup. It seems to be getting a second look now due to its incredible ability to support the immune system by alkalizing your whole system and helping to detoxify your kidneys and liver. I love it because it’s simple and seems to keep everyone I know who is using it healthier! It works well year round, as a gazpacho soup in the summer and a hot soup in the winter. And, it is a plant-based option to another healthy soup recipe — Powerhouse Chicken Soup.
The + by the recipe is because I included Kombu, a seaweed rich in iodine, also great for the immune system, especially in our emf laden lifestyles.
This recipe is rather simple. I make mine without exact measuring, if you prefer the exact measurements, please search the recipe because there are a lot of good sources out there.
Ingredients: (please use organic ingredients for maximum effect)
1 medium summer squash, sliced
1 very large handful of green beens
3 stalks of celery, chopped
1 bunch of parsley (save for the end)
Water to cover the veggies
+ Wild Kombucha, an inch or two of a strip (This adds iron and iodine and is totally optional, but I feel that the thyroid is so in need of support these days, especially with emts everywhere.) Make sure you do not buy washed Komu as it will be void of iodine.
Instructions — Two options:
I make this easy on me as this recipe fits easy into my Ninja blender cooker. I place everything in except the parsley, hit the button that says Smooth Soup and come back in 30 minutes and the soup is done. I then add the parsley, blend until very creamy and I’m ready to serve it!
To make on the stove top, add everything to a pot, bring to a boi, cook at a low boil for another 5-10 minutes until the squash is clear. Add the parsley, and blend with a hand blender until smooth. Or you can add the mixture to a regular blender.
I believe if you research this soup, you will find there were lots of reasons for keeping the ingredients simple. Try it with or without the Kombu before deciding you have to doctor it. Other spices, vegetables and flavorings have their benefits, but often add to the work the body has to do to break down the soup.
This soup can be used as a cleanse, by eating it straight for 1-3 days, or as a supplemental daily regimin.
